Kathmandu— On Thursday, September 3, 2026, the government of Nepal intensified efforts to rescue people trapped inside tunnels after a devastating disaster. Rescue operations are underway in areas like Langtang and Chilime where numerous individuals remain trapped. The urgency of these rescue missions has been emphasized by various political leaders and officials.

Rescue Operations Underway

Tunnel rescue teams have been working diligently to locate and extract workers from the affected areas in Langtang and Chilime. The government has called for all-out efforts, urging high priority be given to these rescue missions. In Rasuwa's Timure, search and rescue operations are being intensified as well.

Prime Minister Shah has assured that the government is always with its citizens during such crises. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged all three tiers of government to make rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts effective. Foreign Minister Khanal stated that ensuring the security of flood-affected foreign nationals remains a priority for the government.
