Bhotekoshi Flood: 3,071 People Remain Unaccounted for in Rasuwa

Kathmandu— The recent floods in the Bhotekoshi River, which originate from the Nepal-China border, have caused significant loss of life and property in Rasuwa. So far, 1,313 individuals have been rescued, but 3,071 people remain unaccounted for. Among those missing are 27 members of the Nepali Army, 28 from the Nepal Police, 13 from the Armed Police, and 79 government employees, as well as 26 staff from banks and financial institutions.

Rescue Efforts

Dhruv Prasad Adhikari, the Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer, reported that security personnel and local residents have successfully rescued 1,227 Nepalese citizens and 86 foreign tourists. Additionally, 145 pilgrims and locals stranded in the Gosainkund area have been airlifted to safety in Nuwakot and Kathmandu via helicopters. However, many people in the district are still out of contact, with 1,370 individuals from Rasuwa and 1,262 foreign tourists from other districts still missing.

Missing Personnel

Among the missing are 27 members of the Nepali Army, 28 from the Nepal Police, 13 from the Armed Police, and 79 government employees, as well as 26 staff from banks and financial institutions. The ongoing search and rescue operations continue to focus on finding these individuals, many of whom are believed to be in critical areas affected by the floods and landslides.
