Kathmandu— China has unveiled a five-year plan aimed at upgrading its supply and marketing cooperative system to enhance rural services and ensure food security from 2026 to 2030. The initiative, outlined by the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, includes building or renovating over 100 national-level strategic fertilizer depots and around 1,000 county-level distribution centers in major grain-producing counties.
Key Tasks for Food Security
The plan identifies 18 key tasks focused on food security and rural revitalization. By the end of this year, the system plans to build or renovate about 20 national-level strategic fertilizer depots and more than 200 county-level distribution centers. This will create a smooth agricultural input distribution network essential for safeguarding national food security.
Enhancing Agricultural Services
In addition to infrastructure development, the plan emphasizes the creation of emergency services such as drying and storage facilities. The system aims to build or renovate 200 agricultural service centers this year alone, which will help reduce post-harvest grain losses and accelerate rural revitalization efforts.
