Kathmandu— The Indian Opposition is set to stage a protest at the Makar Dwar of Parliament on Monday, demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding recent police actions against student protesters during a July 20 demonstration in New Delhi. The protest comes amid ongoing debates over alleged thefts related to Ram Mandir donations and speculation about the introduction of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) Amendment Bill.

Opposition Demands Home Minister's Statement

Congress MP KC Venugopal emphasized that the opposition will continue pressing for a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on issues such as police actions against student protesters and alleged thefts related to Ram Mandir donations. 'I don't know whether they are introducing the FCRA Bill,' Venugopal told ANI, adding, 'We will raise the same issue of the Home Minister's explanation in the House… on the lathi-charge and the firing on Delhi students.'

BJP Accuses Opposition of Disruption

In response to these demands, BJP MP Manish Jaiswal accused the opposition of attempting to disrupt parliamentary proceedings. 'While I do not know exactly which Bill is coming up next, the important thing is that the session continues,' Jaiswal said. 'Parliament exists to serve the people; our hope is that work benefiting the public gets done.' He further stated that the opposition's sole aim appears to be causing disruption rather than adhering to parliamentary rules.
