Congress Leader Slams Government Over Student Protest Crackdown and ‘Missing Funds’

Kathmandu— Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to appear in Parliament, demanding they explain recent actions against student protesters and allegations of 'missing funds.' The opposition leader accused the government of failing to provide answers on these critical matters, calling it an insult to democracy.

Government's Silence on Student Protest Crackdown

Kharge criticized the government for its handling of a student protest at Jantar Mantar in July. He pointed out that students were beaten with lathis, pellet guns were used, and tear gas was fired during the protests. 'Why did this happen? For what reason?' Kharge asked, demanding both Modi and Shah take responsibility and make statements in Parliament.

Accusations of Missing Funds

Kharge also raised concerns about missing funds related to donations for a temple under the Prime Minister's oversight. 'The chanda-chadhava (offerings) donated to Shri Ram Mandir was stolen,' Kharge alleged, adding that this issue needs urgent clarification from the government.

Criticism of PM's Avoidance

Kharge accused Prime Minister Modi of avoiding Parliament and instead posting on social media. 'The Prime Minister is not even willing to come into the House,' Kharge said, calling it an insult to democracy and those who voted for him.
