Kathmandu— In response to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall, the Chinese government has allocated emergency funds totaling more than 350 million yuan (approximately $51.6 million) to support recovery efforts in Heilongjiang, Liaoning, and Jilin provinces. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced on Tuesday that 50 million yuan will be used for infrastructure repair and public service restoration in Heilongjiang alone.

Funding Details

The NDRC has earmarked a total of 350 million yuan to aid recovery efforts across the three northeastern provinces. This includes an initial allocation of 50 million yuan for Heilongjiang, followed by an additional 300 million yuan for Liaoning and Jilin. The funds will be utilized for repairing damaged roads, water conservancy facilities, and other critical infrastructure, as well as restoring public service facilities such as schools and hospitals to ensure a swift return to normalcy.

Emergency Response Activated

In light of the widespread flooding, the National Commission for Disaster Prevention, Reduction and Relief activated a Level-IV emergency response on Tuesday. This move underscores the severity of the situation and the need for immediate action to mitigate further damage and support affected communities. The commission’s decision reflects a proactive approach to disaster management aimed at minimizing long-term impacts.
