Kathmandu— Today, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government will present its first budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the legislative assembly of Tamil Nadu. Budget Presentation Details
State Finance Minister N Marie Wilson will present the budget, which is expected to include key announcements such as an increase in women's monthly honorarium and free bus travel. The government also plans to launch its 'Vettri Thamizhagam' Vision Document during this session.
Political Showdown
The arrest of Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu's legislative assembly, has heightened political tensions. He was arrested over alleged objectionable remarks made during a public speech and later released by order of the Madras High Court.
Stalin asserts that his arrest is an attempt to divert attention from administrative failures and claims it was orchestrated by the ruling party’s “abusive warriors” to spread slander against him.
