Kathmandu— BJP Member of Parliament Sat Sharma has demanded that the government take strict legal action against People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti for alleged disrespect towards India’s national flag. This demand comes after PDP held a protest on the seventh anniversary of Article 370's abrogation, reiterating their commitment to restoring Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

BJP MP's Call for Legal Action

Sat Sharma, speaking to ANI, stated that legal action should be taken against Mehbooba Mufti. He emphasized the seriousness of the disrespect shown towards the Tricolour and linked it to previous statements made by Mufti regarding Article 370. "Just imagine, how can we expect such people to respect the Tricolour? How can we expect them to honour the national flag? For them, it may not matter, but the disrespect shown toward the Tricolour is a serious matter," Sharma said.

PDP's Stance on Article 370

Mehbooba Mufti held a protest in Srinagar to mark the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. She reiterated her party’s commitment to fighting for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and the release of political prisoners. "The PDP, our community, we will fight," Mufti said. She asserted that Article 370 was integral to the identity and rights of the region's people, protecting land and employment rights.

As tensions continue between BJP and PDP over the status of Jammu and Kashmir, both sides remain firm in their stances, with legal action being a potential next step.
