Kathmandu— Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah has instructed relevant government bodies to conduct effective and coordinated rescue and relief operations following devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River region. During a meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister sought information on the impacted areas, assessed the extent of damages, and reviewed ongoing rescue efforts. He specifically directed authorities to fully implement search, rescue, and relief programs.

Focus on Rescue Operations

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for a swift and coordinated response to locate and assist those affected by the flooding. He urged all relevant agencies to prioritize search and rescue operations in the impacted areas of Bhotekoshi. The meeting focused on ensuring that resources were effectively deployed to reach individuals stranded or displaced by the disaster.

Damage Assessment Underway

Alongside directing rescue efforts, Prime Minister Shah also requested a comprehensive assessment of the damage caused by the floods. Details regarding losses and the full extent of the devastation are being gathered to inform relief distribution and long-term recovery plans. The National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management is central to this evaluation process.
