Kathmandu— United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed sadness over the devastating floods that have impacted Nepal and China, resulting in numerous fatalities, missing persons, and widespread damage. The Secretary-General conveyed his sympathies earlier today via his social media account, formerly known as Twitter, and affirmed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting government-led responses. UN teams and humanitarian partners are currently working to mobilize supplies and personnel to assist affected communities.

International Response

Guterres conveyed his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the flooding, as well as wishes for a swift recovery for those injured. The UN Secretary-General’s message highlights the international community's awareness of the disaster and willingness to provide assistance.

UN Support Mobilization

The United Nations is actively supporting the response efforts led by the governments of Nepal and China. According to Guterres, UN teams are on the ground, working alongside humanitarian partners to mobilize essential supplies and personnel. This coordinated effort aims to deliver aid directly to communities impacted by the widespread destruction caused by the floods.

The United Nations continues to monitor the situation in both Nepal and China and will adjust its support as needed based on evolving requirements.
