Kathmandu— Nine bodies of victims from a flash flood in Bhotekoshi have been handed over by Indian authorities to Nepalese officials. The bodies, which were discovered in the Gandak area of India, were transferred at the Maheshpur border point between Nepal and India on Sunday and Monday. According to Madan Thapa, information officer and DSP at the Nawalparasi district police office, the Indian police have been coordinating with Nepalese authorities throughout the process.

Flash Flood Impact

The Bhotekoshi flash flood has resulted in numerous victims being swept across the border into Nepal through the Narayani river. The bodies found in Khadda Gandak river in Kushinagar district of India were handed over to the Nepal police at Maheshpur border point.

Coordination and Search Efforts

"We are in regular contact and coordination with the Indian police," said DSP Thapa. "Following their due processes, the Indian police have so far handed over nine bodies." The Nepalese authorities have requested intensified search operations as more bodies are likely to be found.
