Kathmandu December 23. The Prithvi Chandra Hospital has started providing health services to the people from the economically poor status at a concessional cost. It has set up a separate social service unit for this purpose. Chair of the Hospital Development Board, Jagadish Chaudhari said people of 12 targeted groups including the poor and helpless will benefit from this facility. They will be either provided with free treatment services or some concession in the medical expenses considering their economic status. Expressing the confidence that this service would become effective in ensuring the citizen’s right to get free basic and emergency health services, Chaudhari said they were making efforts to enhancing and expanding the quality health care services. This facility has been started with the cooperation of the province government. Two facilitators have been assigned at the unit for facilitating in the provision of this service. The service has been started in partnership with the Indreni Social Development Forum. Needy people from an economically poor backgrounds, helpless, people with disability, senior citizens, gender based violence affected and women health volunteers will be benefited from this facility. Similarly, people affected from natural disaster, members of the martyrs family, undernourished children, detainees brought for medical care by police, people injured due to accidents and emergency and the people from the marginalized and minority indigenous nationalities will be benfited from this service.
