Kathmandu December 25 .The National and International Sports persons Association (NISA) has called on the government to announce prize to all the athletes winning medals in the 13th South Asian Games. The Association demanded this as the government has not as of now announced prizes for the players winning silver and bronze in the team events in SAG. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on December 11 had announced special package to players winning medals in the SAG and to the coaches as well. Accordingly, prize of Rs 900,000 has been announced for the athlete winning gold, of Rs 600,000 for athlete winning silver and of Rs 300,000 to athlete winning bronze in individual competitions. Although the government declared to give prize of Rs 500,000 to athlete winning gold medal in the team event, it has not announced prize to athletes winning silver and bronze towards the team events. The government has not made any decision in this connection even after two weeks since the 13th SAG concluded. “We request the government to immediately announce prize to the athletes winning medals in the team events to boost their morale,” Association president Deepak Shrestha stated in a press statement. Recalling that the athletes have to wait for long even to get the prize announced by the government in the past as well, he urged the government to immediately provide the prize amount announced this time. Nepal had won total 206 medals, including 51gold, 60 silver and 95 bronze in the 13th SAG. The 13th SAG was held in Nepal from December 1 to 10.
