Kathmandu January 2 .Chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the cooperatives should keep small farmers working in basic level in priority. Inaugurating the Agriculture Training and Research Centre at Ratnanagar-5 in Chitwan district today, Chair Dahal said that all farmers should be included in mega campaign of production. He also stressed on making the economy stronger by increasing production by making agriculture profession systematic and dignified, adding that the country has been moving towards the path of self-dependency in meat, egg, fruits and vegetables. The former Prime Minister said, “The constitution has described economic system as based on three-pillar policy. Economic development of the country will move ahead in a balance way only from collaboration among public, private sectors and cooperatives.” He further said that both- NCP and government has been making farmers to work in favour of self-dependent economy as well as preparing socialism along with social justice. The NCP chair said the cooperatives has played important role to bring backward communities in the main stream of social and economic development along with capacity building making them organised. Nepal Agricultural Cooperatives Central Association had constructed the centre at a cost of Rs 38 million where the government invested 80 per cent of the total cost and 20 per cent by cooperatives.
