Kathmandu January 5. A total of 297 persons benefited from a free eye health check-up camp organized at Sardikhola in ward no. 2 of Machhapuchre rural municipality-2. The camp was hosted on Saturday by the Rama Kanta-Nirmala Foundation. Locals from Sardikhola, Chaur, Khandarjung, Ghalekharka, Chyalung, Neprang and other neighbouring wards benefitted from the camp. Himalaya Eye Hospital Pokhara provided technical support to the camp. The people coming to the camp underwent free eye check-up and also received free medicines. Furthermore, 55 people received spectacles as per the recommendation of the doctors. Seven of them have been recommended for cataract surgery. They will also receive free surgery at the hospital, according to Managing Director Dr Indraman Maharjan. The hospital has been organising more than 100 camps in a year. The foundation has also been running various programmes in the health, education and environment sector, said its patron Ramkanta Baral.
