– Cloudy condition will prevail throughout the country today with chances of light to moderate rain in most places including the Kathmandu Valley due to the effect of the Ampun cyclone. The Meteorological Forecasting Division said influence of the cyclone that developed in the Bay of Bengal will remain for two days more as it has already made a landfall.
Meteorologist Meen Kumar Aryal said the weather will be completely cloudy in the eastern region of the country due to the indirect effect of the cyclone with the likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places of the eastern region and at one or two places of the central and western region.
It is said the cyclone Ampun is moving ahead towards the north-east passing through West Bengal and the coastal areas of Bangladesh. There is the possibility of this cyclone gradually weakening and taking a north-easterly direction. According to the meteorologist, although the cyclone does not have direct impact in Nepal, some places in the east and central region would be indirectly affected and therefore few places in these regions might get rainfall and the mountainous areas snowfall in the coming two days as well.
The Division has also cautioned against rise in flow of water in the rivers and streams in the east and central regions during this period. The eastern region will see completely cloudy and the central region partly cloudy conditions tonight with chances of light to moderate rain fall accompanied by thunder and lightning occurring at some places in the eastern region and one or two places of the central region. The Forecasting Division stated that the weather will remain generally cloudy with chances of light to moderate rain in some places of the eastern region and in the hilly region of the central and western region on Friday. Forecast for Saturday: The weather will be generally cloudy in the central and eastern regions while partly cloudy in the western region with the likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder taking place at some places of the central and eastern region, and at at few places of the western region.
As per the latest weather update provided by the Division, the minimum temperature was 16.0 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 30.3 degrees Celsius in the Kathmandu Valley today. The lowest temperature, 6.4 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Jumla and the highest temperature 38.2 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Nepalgunj in the last 24 hours.
