Kathmandu, June 3. A parallel meeting of the CPN-UML is being held today at a time when the dispute between the two parties has escalated.
Prime Minister and party chairperson KP Sharma Oli has convened a standing committee meeting in Baluwatar. The meeting, which will be held at 4 pm, will be attended by 19 newly appointed standing committees. Oli had earlier called a meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal faction’s leader are not includes in the standing committee formed by Oli.
The Khanal-Nepal faction, which has been conducting parallel activities since Phagun 23 last year, is also scheduled to hold a meeting of its Central Committee today. The meeting of this group will be held virtually. A meeting has been called to discuss the internal political developments of the last party. Leader Bhim Rawal said that the meeting would start at 11 am.
After signing with the opposition alliance to make Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba the Prime Minister, Oli has expelled 11 leaders, including Khanal and Nepal, from the party.
However, leaders close to Oli have been holding discussions with other leaders except Nepal-Khanal and Bhim Rawal as the pressure to unite with oli faction within the Nepal side has increased within their own group. In the last discussion, Madhav Nepal has described Oli as a hypocritical game that he moved forward after he fell in the eighth grade. Nepal will to inform the central committe members about all these developments and the formation of a new party.
