Kathmandu— A man was arrested Sunday near Trump National Golf Club in Southern California after federal agents reported him as suspicious. Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, was found carrying a concealed firearm and other prohibited items during a search of his residence. The US Secret Service is investigating whether he posed any threat to President Trump, who is scheduled to attend a Republican National Committee dinner at the golf course on Tuesday evening.

Arrest Details

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Taele was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm and possession of prohibited ammunition. He was allegedly taking photographs and videos while monitoring security-related activities at the golf course. During a search of his residence, investigators recovered an illegally modified AR-style rifle, body armour, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, and notebooks containing concerning statements.

Ongoing Investigation

US Attorney Bill Essayli stated that this is an active investigation involving the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and the US Secret Service. The El Segundo Police Department is also investigating Taele in connection with a robbery case. Authorities recovered additional items such as a .45-calibre pistol, radio signal devices, and more ammunition during the search of his home.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department emphasized that there are no credible threats to communities at this time but highlighted the importance of coordination among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in addressing suspicious activity.
