Kathmandu— Congress Member of Parliament KC Venugopal sharply criticized Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday, accusing the RSS of effectively controlling the government. Venugopal challenged Bhagwat to demand Union Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation if there is any sincerity toward the younger generation, in light of recent police actions against student protesters.

RSS Control Allegations

Venugopal alleged that the RSS controls the government and should therefore take responsibility for the recent police action against student protesters. He stated, 'If he has any sincerity towards Gen Z, let him [Mohan Bhagwat] ask the Home Minister to resign.' Venugopal also called on Bhagwat to apologize to students and the Prime Minister if there is any sincerity toward the youth.

Congress Support for Youth

Reiterating the Congress party's support for the youth, Venugopal stated, 'Wherever students are doing genuine protests, for genuine issues, we will stand with them.' He also voiced strong opposition to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) Bill, accusing the government of attempting to bypass parliamentary decorum.

Bhagwat's Response

In response to recent protests and the government's subsequent outreach, Bhagwat acknowledged that protest is a method for consensus in democracy. He said, 'Agitation should not be against me or you, but for system correction.' Bhagwat also noted that Gen Z grievances are genuine and need to be addressed.
