Traffic Halted to Four Districts After Major Flooding in Rasuwa

ABC NEWS

Kathmandu— Transportation to four Nepali districts – Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Chitwan, and Dhading – has been suspended in Kathmandu following significant flooding in Rasuwa this morning. The measure was taken as a safety precaution for travelers heading to or transiting through the affected areas, according to authorities. Traffic police initiated the halt to prevent vehicles from entering potentially dangerous zones impacted by the floodwaters.

Traffic Suspension Details

Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson and superintendent of police of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, confirmed that all vehicles traveling towards Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Chitwan, or Dhading have been stopped within Kathmandu. The suspension includes vehicles intending to pass through these districts as well. This decision aims to ensure the safety of passengers given the hazardous conditions caused by the flooding in Rasuwa.

Rasuwa Flood Impact

The extent of damage from the flood in Rasuwa has not been detailed, but it is significant enough to warrant halting traffic to multiple districts. Authorities have yet to release information regarding road closures or specific areas affected within Rasuwa itself.

Traffic police will continue to monitor the situation and reassess conditions before allowing vehicles to resume travel to the impacted districts.
