Kathmandu— The government of Nepal has estimated losses amounting to approximately Rs 400 billion from the Bhotekoshi flash flood that occurred on August 26. According to Dr Dharma Raj Upreti, Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), a preliminary estimate of Rs 387.54 billion in losses has been made, with detailed reports still pending.

Restoration Efforts

For the restoration efforts expected to span over four months, Nepal may require an additional Rs 8 billion. Dr Upreti highlighted that it is crucial to restore various sectors including buildings, communications, energy and transport systems, health, nutrition, education, agriculture, and livestock.
