Regional Impacts of Overnight Attacks

The Samara Region saw an industrial facility struck by Ukrainian missiles on Saturday morning, according to Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev. Emergency services were dispatched to the site, and authorities are currently verifying the extent of damage and any potential casualties.

In the Rostov Region, approximately 1,000 residents across seven villages experienced power outages after a Ukrainian drone damaged powerlines, as reported by Governor Yury Slusar. Air defenses reportedly destroyed around a dozen UAVs and three missiles overnight in the region, with no injuries initially reported.

Moscow Region Hit By Drone Strikes

The Moscow area also came under attack, with Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stating that at least 16 incoming drones were shot down on approach to the capital. In the town of Shatura within Moscow Region, a UAV struck a private home, injuring a nine-year-old boy and a fifty-five-year-old woman. The child was hospitalized in serious condition, according to Governor Vyacheslav Vorobyeb.

Russian Defense Ministry Claims Interceptions

The Russian Defense Ministry claims its forces intercepted or shot down a total of 598 Ukrainian UAVs across 20 regions overnight using both air defenses and electronic warfare systems. This claim has not been independently verified.

The ministry also stated that over the past week, it launched 14 strikes targeting Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, logistics infrastructure, fuel, energy, and transport networks, as well as military airfields and ports.

Escalation of Strikes And Accusations

Moscow has consistently condemned Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure and residential areas, labeling them as terrorist attacks intended to offset setbacks on the battlefield. Russia maintains its own long-range strikes against Ukraine are aimed solely at military targets and infrastructure supporting Kiev’s forces.

The Defense Ministry reported targeting 15 vessels operating in support of the Ukrainian military, including a tanker, dry cargo ships, tugboats, and patrol boats.
