Nepal’s Foreign Minister Calls for Intellectual Movement to Drive National Transformation

Kathmandu— Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, asserted that intellectual discussion and a corresponding movement are necessary for national transformation. Speaking at the inauguration of the first campus assembly of the Gramin Adasrha Multiple Campus in Kathmandu today, Khanal highlighted the vital role of the academic sector in providing guidance to both society and the nation, stating that such an intellectual push would be key to propelling change within the country.

Emphasis on Academic Guidance

Minister Khanal underscored the importance of the academic sector’s role in steering Nepal toward positive development. He believes that institutions of learning are uniquely positioned to guide society and ensure the nation remains on a constructive path.

Khanal specifically stated that an ‘intellectual movement gives an impetus to the transformation in the country,’ suggesting a need for focused discussion and innovative thinking to address national challenges.

Call for Youth Retention

Former minister Rajendra Shrestha, also present at the event, urged the government to foster an environment conducive to retaining young people within Nepal. His statement implies concerns about youth emigration and the importance of creating opportunities domestically.

Shrestha’s advice suggests a need for policies that address the needs and aspirations of Nepal's younger generation.

Campus Focus on Practical Learning

Rameshwor Bohara, chair of the Campus Management Committee, shared that Gramin Adasrha Multiple Campus is prioritizing education aligned with contemporary demands. The campus aims to deliver practical learning experiences, equipping students with skills relevant to the current job market.

Bohara informed attendees that the institution’s focus is on ensuring its educational offerings meet the needs of the present time.

The inauguration of the campus assembly and subsequent remarks by key figures highlight a shared emphasis on education and intellectual discourse as drivers of national progress in Nepal.
